Jackie Nix is an animal scientist, author, speaker, and artist who passionately seeks to educate and inspire children and teachers regarding the role agriculture plays in their lives.

Jackie has been creating and delivering formal and informal educational content to audiences of all ages since the early 1990s!

Jackie has a talent for taking highly technical, complex subjects and simplifying them for any audience.

She is an entertaining and energetic speaker who doesn’t just know agriculture, but loves sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm, engaging audiences of all ages!

Modern Farms: Not Your Grandpa’s Farm (K-12) -

Jackie Nix gives a lively introduction to agriculture and food production dispelling myths and stereotypes of what “real” farms look like.

Key Learning Points

This presentation is modified according to age group. Length of presentation will be adapted according to age of participants, but is generally 30-45 minutes in length.

Now is your chance to pick the brain of an author who has successfully self-published and marketed her award-winning book.

Participants will leave having a better idea of the publishing options that best fit their goals, budget and skill sets. They will receive a set of action steps they can take to make their self-publishing dreams come true.

Workshop length can be modified to accommodate class periods but is generally 60 to 90 minutes in length.

A fun STEAM workshop that empowers participants to create beautiful collage art while learning interesting trivia about cows.

Are Cheeseburgers Causing Climate Change?

(Grades 4th-and up)

Are cows bad for the environment? Do cow farts cause climate change? Get the facts from animal scientist and ruminant nutritionist, Jackie Nix, who separates fact from fiction.

Key Learning Points

  • Cows both contribute to and remove greenhouse gases (GHG)

  • Increases in GHG correlate to industrialization over the last 200 years.

  • Modern cattle production can be an important tool in short term GHG reduction

Participants will be introduced to the biology of domestic and wild bovines and their place in the ecosystem. They will also be introduced to environmental science and the carbon cycle.
